Mainstreet Smokehouse provides Libertyville unique regional BBQ

In downtown Libertyville there is a place that makes you feel like you’re in Texas or the Carolinas. Not by the surroundings, but by the tastes on the menu at Mainstreet Smokehouse. Eddie Moore is passionate about his bbq and it shows in this conversation I had with him recently.

I even got a chance to visit the kitchen and see the two 200lb smokers “where real B.B.Q. is smoked.”

Libertyville Mainstreet Smokehouse Smokers

Had lunch here today with a good friend. It was outstanding. HUGE portions, great sauces, and a cool environment. Will be back again for sure!

Yup i was there with Cris! MMMM… Our church staff went monday for the great pulled pork daily special and then i couldn’t pass up introducing Chris to it and get me some beef brisket! holy cow it was amazing! Now if there was only a sandwich that would combine the Brisket and pulled pork that would be amazing! It is my new favorite place in Libertyville! i could spend all day in Libertyville and find good meals for all day. I would recommend after smoke house rolling over the Lovin Oven for some sweet goodness!

Thank you! I actually went to Lovin Oven yesterday for the first time. Couldn’t agree more with that suggestion! I’ll have to talk with them and write a post with some video!

    Tim,

Thanks for writing about this place. My daughter and I love BBQ, and we can’t wait to check this place out. We were just discussing going to Smoque in Chicago, but this looks good, too!

BTW, did you hit up Eloise for espresso yet?

Jeff, It’s really good! I had the brisket and I must say the white sauce was a little intimidating at first, but grew on me. Everyone I spoke with and that have left comments have had nothing but great things to say about it. I think it a true “gem” in the burbs when it comes to BBQ.
As for Eloise, I tried the other day, but they had already closed. Lori and I are definitely trying it for lunch soon!

    Tim,

Went to the Smokehouse yesterday for lunch with my daughters. Two of us had the special, BBQ Chicken Sandwich with side (sweet potato fries rocked – crisp, hot and not gummy). The Sandwich was huge and delicious.

My other daughter had the BBQ Nachos with brisket. Six homemade “tortilla” chips were piled high with meat, grilled onions, and sauces. Awesome!

We loved the sauces, I loved the white sauce, a horseradish garlic pepper mixture, but the sandwich already came sauced with the sweet chipotle sauce, which was great.

Can’t wait to go back and explore the rest of the menu. The specials were priced right, and for lunch it’s on the moderate end for pricing, but the quality of food is worth it.

Thanks so much for turning us on to this place!

    Jeff,
Glad you enjoyed it. I think your description of pricing and quality are dead on. Not a “cheap” lunch, but well worth what you pay for.
Thanks for sharing your opinion! May you enjoy you holidays and all the best for a fantastic 2010!
